Job Summary

The Associate Optical Field Engineer is responsible for the deployment of high-speed optical networks. They will work in the field and factory staging area along with other Technicians, Field Engineers, and Project Engineers as needed. The Associate Optical Field Engineer will work on engineering tasks including, but not limited to, network installation, fiber optic characterization, trace analysis, and equipment commissioning and testing. This work will primarily be on the road with office presence as required.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Internal and External Project Teams to:
    • Provide technical and logistical solutions in the field
    • Proactively identify and address potential risks
    • Execute projects per the Statement of Work, and work with engineering staff to pivot as necessary
  • Perform network deployment functions in the factory & field
    • Configuration
    • Integration and Migration
    • Testing of optical networks
  • Continuous Training
    • Continually train on new technologies related to optical networking
  • Demonstrate proficiency at completing the following tasks:
    • Site Surveys & Other Documentation
    • Fiber Optic Characterization (FOC)
    • Office Suite Apps (Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Visio, Word, etc.)
    • Equipment Installation involving:
      • Vendor specific requirements
      • LRT/Customer labeling and installation standards
    • Equipment Integration
      • Advanced knowledge of provisioning on multiple optical platforms such as Ciena 6500/R, WaveServer, Nokia 1830, and Infinera XTM/GX
    • Network Test & Turn-up
      • Advanced knowledge of troubleshooting and testing optical networks for long haul, metro, and regional architectures

Qualifications

BS degree in Engineering or similar scientific field of study from an accredited university

 

Rate –$33.65/hr
