The ACX6000 line of Universal Metro Routers directly addresses evolving metro network architectures that extend operational intelligence from the service provider edge to the access network. The ACX6000 line bridges the complexity between packet optical transport and the IP/MPLS networking layer by collapsing both domains into a seamless, multilayer solution. From there, it delivers a single-pane-of-glass view into network operations.
The ACX6000 line is optimized for disaggregated and open-line architectures. It combines packet-optical convergence, 100GbE client interfaces, and 100/200 Gbps line-side interfaces to address a wide variety of use cases. Among these are business, cable Distributed Access Architectures (DAA), residential fiber, mobile backhaul, and enterprise applications.
The ACX6000 line comprises high-capacity, high-density, 1 U stackable platforms. It offers powerful options to enhance the performance, efficiency, and simplicity of any transport architecture.
ACX6360 Universal Metro Router
Powered by the Junos® operating system and ExpressPlus™ silicon running at 3.6 Tbps, the ACX6360 is highly scalable and flexible. It offers two modes of operation:
- A muxponder-like transponder mode supporting flexible mapping of 20 QSFP28 100GbE interfaces to eight 100Gbps/200Gbps CFP2-DCO line-side optical ports.
- A label-switching router (LSR) mode allows any-to-any traffic routing between client and line-side ports supporting statistical multiplexing benefits.
The ACX6360 also provides IEEE-compliant 802.1AE/802.1X 256-AES MACsec encryption for pervasive security across packet and optical transports.
ACX6160 Universal Metro Router
The ACX6160 provides OpenROADM-compliant transponder support for packet optical applications. It creates an exceptional foundation for building open, disaggregated, multilayer transport architectures. As a multichannel transponder, the ACX6160 supports eight quad small form-factor pluggable QSFP28 100GbE/OTU4 client interfaces and four 100 Gbps/200 Gbps CFP2-DCO line-side interfaces. OpenROADM-compliant APIs provide full third-party controller support along with HG-FEC-compliant interfaces, enabling open and disaggregated transponder functionality.
You can use the proNX Optical Director software platform to manage and control the Juniper Programmable Photonic Layer open-line system elements and our coherent dense wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM) transponder-based solutions. These solutions include the ACX6160, ACX6360, and ACX5448-D; the integrated DWDM transponder on MX Series 5G Universal Routing Platforms; and the TCX Series Optical Transport Systems.
The ACX6000 line offers the power and flexibility to meet your specific multilayer transport needs. Its scalability, reliability, and programmability improve customer experiences while lowering the costs of updating and maintaining your network infrastructure.
