LightRiver Technologies is an optical network integrator based in the San Francisco Bay Area (with support offices in Sarasota, FL and Boston, MA areas) specializing in the deployment of wide area networks (WAN); we build high capacity transport networks for metro, statewide, national and global clients. Our clients are telecommunications network operators, Utilities, Cloud Delivery Networks, Data Center operators, Competitive Telecommunications Service Providers and state/local governments.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated technical marketer for this newly created, highly visible position. Successful candidate will be a creative and analytical individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment with an outstanding work ethic and detail orientation. Candidate must have exemplary communication skills and ability to easily adapt to new challenges in a growing organization.
The individual must able to understand the competitive makeup of solutions on the market today, how LightRiver’s products compare in relation to those products and providing hard data on how best to position LightRiver’s solutions in the marketplace to ensure hard-hitting and supported value propositions and use cases.
The Technical Marketing Specialist oversees product and brand creation and messaging across all media platforms ensuring that key, strategic messages are created, evolved and communicated effectively to target audiences. Work with President Marketing & Sales and marketing partners to develop and execute marketing strategy and tactics.
This is a hands-on role in which the Specialist will produce case studies, white papers, value propositions, public relations materials, advertising, speaking engagements and marketing collateral. Additionally, this role interfaces heavily internally and externally – working with Technology teams, Product teams, and partners on product definitions and positioning as well as interfacing with industry champions, partners, media and others to expand LightRiver’s brand presence across all media platforms including social media.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include:

  • Exhibit the ability to understand the details in a carrier grade, network architecture and design and the application of optical transport network technologies and processes to accordingly craft the value propositions, use cases, case studies and white papers.
  • Acquire and manage research to obtain significant customer and end-user insights for competitive advantage.
  • Evaluate new market opportunities and products, demand and customer needs and insights.
  • Work with Marketing, Sales and Technology Leadership to develop and execute marketing strategy and demand generation for existing product lines and develop relevant marketing campaigns to fulfill the goals of the marketing plan
  • Strategically plan and manage launch campaigns for new products and offers
  • Ensure consistent, effective, branded marketing
  • Analyze effectiveness of all marketing efforts and refine future initiatives
  • Develop and manage outbound communications including promotional materials, website content, videos, white papers, newsletter and blogs and other social media.
  • Management of external marketing agencies, PR agencies and other outside vendors
  • Administer the marketing budget. Promote marketing plans that drive business results, while staying on brand strategy.
  • Work with legal, sales, and marketing stakeholders for timely, complete, and efficient content review.
  • Develop training sessions to SE and Sales Teams with the technical know-how of the various products.
  • Interfaces with cross-functional teams in achieving a cohesive plan to showcase the value of LightRiver Product and Technology differentiation.
  • Tell stories that inspire passion and amplify our product opinions, vision/roadmap, and thought leadership.
  • Build support for our Factory Built Network hardware and software solutions and leverage our culture, philosophy and approach.
  • Be an expert on our product use cases, customer needs, market trends, and the threat landscape.
  • Present at industry events, on webcasts, and in conference rooms of our customers to help audiences understand our product capabilities and extended business benefits.
  • Present to LightRiver Sales & SE teams about our latest use cases, capabilities and technologies.
  • Must pro-actively let the field be aware of our findings and also learn from the field on customer requirements and deployment models and implement the in our testing efforts.
  • Interfaces with cross-functional teams in achieving a cohesive plan to showcase the value of LightRiver Product and Technology differentiation.
  • Other duties as assigned

Key Qualifications:

Qualifications include:

  • 2-4 years in evangelism, technical pre-sales, or customer success for a network-focused, technology or software product, with a Bachelor’s degree
  • Proven record of explaining new, disruptive solutions to customers—both the strategic benefits and practical use cases.
  • Proven ability to change customer perceptions and behavior through compelling copy writing.
  • Experience writing copy for deliverables such as value propositions, testimonials, case histories, online product demos, videos, and white papers
  • MEF-CECP, CCNA, CCDA, JNCIA or similar certified industry achievements will be preferred.
  • Experience managing strategic content-marketing projects demonstrating effective end-to-end project management
  • Experience working in a flexible, employee empowered work environment. Digital Marketing experience, along with strong computer skills including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
  • Demonstrated presentation and webcast/video recording expertise—share links of your work.
  • Engaging, charismatic presenter who’s comfortable in front of audiences of all sizes and with both technical and non-technical buyers including C-level executives.
  • Technically-savvy with keen ability to translate complex ideas into various mediums for effective consumption with a strong attention to detail.
  • Knows how to build strong relationships with all stakeholders to contribute to revenue and retention goals.
